Job Hunting

It's that time of the season, trying to figure out what to do for work this summer. This year I have about 8 weeks of between the school year. With the job change this year, I have no guaranteed summer work; full or part time. So i have to begin that fateful hunt along with hundreds of recently graduated college students. The summer is a time to make extra money since as a teacher I can get my pay throughout the summer but after taxes I am barely able to pay the bills that we have. So here we are looking for working and I get a weekly email from Relevant Magazine and guess what pops up, an article about Job Hunting. This is when you know God knows exactly what you need to hear, especially when you perceive things not going well (like no summer work available).

The article itself is about Fear and Hope in job hunting. The guy writing the article started out going on about his little experience in anything and having a degree in English and Bible, which he asks himself "What was I Thinking" Changing jobs in the middle of the year, I ask myself the same thing about summer work. Then he says and quotes something that seems profound but its really simple: Listen to what God is saying to you. Oh how true it is, God definitely has a plan and I pray that so far I am following it. Then like my quite time today this verse came up:

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;  the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. (Isa. 43:1-3)

I mean, really is God trying to teach me something or not. God knows whats coming and how its going to work out. We just need to pray daily and rely on God's strength because good things are coming.

So if you are like me, only looking for something temporary or if you are fresh out of school, I just want to encourage you to pray and think of this verse and it will get better, just follow what God is telling you, seek out wisdom from your pastor or trusted friend who is living a life reflective of God.
