Starting a New Chapter

With the birth of my son and recently watching one of the best Scrubs episodes it got me thinking about new beginnings. Scrubs was one of the best shows that never found a home on its channel and the finale that I count as the final episode really got me thinking. In "My Finale" JD and the cast deal with the JD leaving the hospital to go be closer to his son. As he begins his walkout he takes about not dwelling on the past but looking forward to the future. With the birth of my son coming I began to think about how my life will change. About the things that I (and we) used to do without regard to other people like going to concerts for our favorite bands or just going out to eat and a movie. The best part of the episode and what I am going to love the most was when he was looking into the future. J.D. was watching a screen with his future life and things he was looking forward to. He says, "It's never good to live in the past too long. As for the future, thanks to Dan it didn't seem so scary any more. It could be whatever I want it to be. And who's to say this isn't what happens? Who can tell me that my fantasies won't come true just...this...once..."

That is what is most exciting to me. I have all these dreams in my head that I rarely share, but just thinking about who are boy is going to be, what he's going to love, how lives are are going to changed forever. The endless possibilities are so exciting and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

The song that also plays in that scene too is fantastic and it makes me well up watching it. It’s a cover song by Peter Gabriel called "The Book of Love" The lyrics are at the end of the post, it's such a simple song but hauntingly beautiful and no I don't mean the song is karaoke. (he he HIMYM...oh Ted)

All of this brings gets me to this thought, everything that has been a struggle or that I have been frustrated with is all worth the joy that is coming in the future. Our life's run through seasons and the most exciting thing is that we never know what is going to be next. I still dream and I dream big, even now I am taking steps to follow those dreams.

In life we have passions, gifts and things that we are just plain good at and one day I am going to try something new, something different that applies all of these things. It's hard to know what the future holds but one thing I am sure of one thing. I love my family, I love friends and I love God and I know he is looking out for me, so I don't have to worry and I can keep dreaming!

Who am I going to be?
The Book of Love: Peter Gabriel

The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures and instructions for dancing
But I
I love it when you read to me
And you
You can read me anything
The book of love has music in it
In fact that's where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental
Some of it is just really dumb
But I
I love it when you sing to me
And you
You can sing me anything
The book of love is long and boring
And written very long ago
It's full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things we're all too young to know
But I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
And I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
And I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
You ought to give me wedding rings
