You Bled - Rend Collective Experiment

Recently I have been taken with a new style of worship music. The Rend Collective Experiment is just like it sounds an experiment in worship music. They started out as musicians getting together to have authentic worship and it lead to something bigger. There are five main members of the group but they play with many more people on stage. There music doesn't follow the traditional sound of contemporary worship music. If you are interested in hearing the whole story, watch this video.

This song is one that really spoke to me the first time I heard it. It comes out of John 19:33-37 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. 35 He who saw it has borne witness—his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth—that you also may believe. 36 For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken.” 37 And again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they have pierced.”

This song is about how Jesus gave his life for us. This action allowed us to be filled with life and become closer to God. For the scriptures to be fulfilled this had to happen. For us to come closer to God, our sins had to be cleaned. That is what this song is about.

You Bled

You bled your heart out
Now I feel love beat in my chest
How wonderful
You gave your beauty
In exchange for my ugliness
How wonderful

You left your perfection
And embraced our rejection

How marvellous, how boundless
Is Your love, is Your love
How wonderful, sacrificial
Is Your love for me

You put on our chains
Sent us out through the open door
How wonderful
You took our sadness
Crowned us with joy and real peace
How wonderful

You left Your perfection
And fought for our redemption

Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
How wonderful
Yes Jesus loves me
This is love
You gave Yourself
