Song Profile: The Lord Our God

Lately Kristin and I are finding ourselves attracted to the worship songs that Kristian Stanfill does, whether he writes them or just sings them. I think that one of the things that we like is that he sings about declarations of God, who he is and what he has done for us. . "The Lord Our God" is a song that was recently written for/preformed at this past years Passion event.

This song comes from the study of Moses and how even in the desert God was still present with them. Throughout the bible you read verses, stories about how even in our rebellion from God he still faithful.

Another story that this song comes from is Numbers 9:15-23 it talks about how the people of Israel would not move without God. He was a cloud by day and fire by night. The fact that God stayed with them and lead them was incredible.

For me this verse comes up when I hear this song, especially with the chorus. God is faithful and every gift is perfect and comes from God and God doesn't change.

Lately I find myself frustrated and angry with God for various reasons but then I hear a song like this, I read Number 9 and think of James 1:17 and I blown away by God and confess to him that I am trying so hard to have control but I need to give it to him.

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Verse 1
Promise maker, promise keeper
You finish what You begin
Our provision through the desert
You see it through ‘til the end
You see it through ‘til the end

Chorus
The Lord our God is ever faithful
Never changing through the ages
From this darkness You will lead us
And forever we will say
You’re the Lord our God

Verse 2
In the silence, in the waiting
Still we can know You are good
All Your plans are for Your glory
Yes, we can know You are good
Yes, we can know You are good

Bridge
We won’t move without You
We won’t move without You
You’re the light of all
And all that we need
We won’t move without You
We won’t move without You
You’re the light of all
And all that we need
