Warrior Dash 2014

Taste that mud!!
I wonder if this will be cold?
We have come to that time of the year. The air is fresh, everything has new life and the crazy races begin again. This past cyber Monday I signed up for this year’s Warrior Dash, my friends and I decided to try the race in Massachusetts this year instead of going to the same place again in Connecticut. Everything was great until the barrage of emails, event location has changed, date has changed location change again, and so on. Because of all of the changes my friends dropped out because of different races or harder time getting that date available. Since I don't see them on a regular basis I missed all of these conversations, so I continued on, doing the race by myself.
Fire is no match for me!

This forced me to motivate myself to complete the race. The race finally stopped switching locations and was at Amesbury Sports Park in Amesbury, MA. This race was the hardest one I have ever done, it was .34 longer than the one in CT and it was hilly, they say moderate hills but you are really running straight up a beginners ski trail and from there it was a mile and a half of up and down through narrow trails in the woods. It that first stretch there was two obstacles if you don't count the mud that was all over the trails which made it slick.

Oops, I Did It Again!
Overall I did it in less than an hour, which is faster than I have done one before, the obstacles were not that tough but the trail running was killer. I am thinking I am going to try to convince my wife to let me sign up for another one this year, if that doesn't work then I think my plan for next year will be to do this list of races leading up to a tough mudder. I need to run A LOT more if that is going to happen though.

All of these races motivate me to be healthier which is a good thing and something that I need to do. Training for the Rugged Manic begins next week, once I figure out a running schedule; if you’re interested in running with me leave me a message.

Race Wish List for 2015:

Spartan Race (maybe at Fenway)
Warrior Dash (again, I love it)
Rugged Manic (I have one in the late summer but it’s awesome so I want to do it again)
A regular 10k (because I will be training for Tough Mudder
1/2 Marathon (again because I will be training for the Tough Mudder)
And then the Tough Mudder (I really can't wait)

Color Me Rad (for fun with the family)
