Tough Weeks

You know those times that you go through tough weeks. The ones where things just are not going right or as smoothly as you would like. You're a little bit more agitated, you hurt yourself (not intentionally) and things just keep going wrong.

Well...that was the last week for me, a few things at work did not work out how I wanted them, but my manager was very pleased with it anyway. Saturday was a particularly tough day, the weather was terrible and I turned my ankle because I didn't feel like shoveling because the next day was going to be 20 degrees warmer and would melt the snow, and then I had to work all day at the brewery, then the TV broke, and then Monday night was a tough night talking about money (we started taking a Dave Ramsey class) and our boys have a ton of energy, especially Finn.

I say all of this not because I am looking for poor me, I don't need it because I have something better, God's word. It's funny how when you are having a tough week God just shows up and reminds you of who he is and what he has done. In successive days I had quiet time that revolved around:

  • 1 John 5:4
  • Psalm 27:1
  • Isaiah 41:10
  • Deuteronomy 31:6
  • Joshua 1:6
  • Psalm 34:4-8

All of these verses point to God's power in our lives. His real power to work in our lives and the lives of others. You just can't deny it. So during this long week these verses were a constant reminder to keep my eyes fixed upon God and not let my mind wander to the darker places. So, just remember that no matter what happens this week, next week or last week, keep your eyes upon him.
